Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has appeared at the Cannes Film Festival for the first time with a leading role. The film is called ‘Die My Love’, in which she shares the screen with Robert Pattinson. In this film, Lawrence plays the role of a mother who is struggling with postpartum depression. The special thing is that when she started shooting for this film, she herself was four months pregnant.
The story of the film is inspired by the novel by Ariana Harwich and Lawrence’s character ‘Grace’ goes through a deep psychological struggle. There are scenes in the film where Grace behaves violently and unnaturally to express her grief and emptiness. Lawrence’s acting skills are at their best in such scenes.
During a press conference with director Lynn Ramsey, Lawrence said that the experiences of motherhood and the physical hormonal changes helped her understand the character’s emotions more deeply. She said, “After motherhood, I felt like I was more sensitive now, which proved beneficial for my acting.”
Lawrence also stars in the film with Robert Pattinson, who said that fatherhood can be a great source of living energy. The perspectives of both actors showed that parenthood has a direct impact on their creativity and acting.
Jennifer Lawrence has said before that she always wanted to do such worrying and challenging characters, but her agents stopped her from doing such roles. Now she is working on her own terms and ‘Die My Love’ is a revelation.
