Seven new homes have been approved near a water tower in Cleethorpes, marking a significant step in the area’s redevelopment.
Cleethorpes: Seven new homes are coming to the area. They’ll be built near a water tower.
Planning has been approved for five terraced and two semi-detached homes on the old Unifab Engineering site. Each home will have three bedrooms.
This site used to supply water to the nearby tower. It has two wells still in place. Unifab Engineering took over the site in 1995, making food processing equipment.
Later, Delta Engineering Company leased the unit. It was demolished after plans for 14 homes were proposed. Construction for those homes started in 2023.
The new Pelham Road homes will include nine parking spaces, each with an EV charging point. The development aims to attract families, professionals, and retirees.
To address flooding concerns, no bedrooms will be on the ground floor. All first floors must be at least 2.8 meters above ground level. Residents can enjoy views of the Humber and Chapman’s Pond.
In another development, a vacant retail unit in Grimsby will be split into a retail space and a hand car wash. This site was once home to Middleton’s Glass Ltd until it closed in 2022.
The new plan includes a maximum of four staff members using a car share arrangement. This will help minimize parking space usage. The site expects around 20-25 cars daily, each taking about 15 minutes for cleaning.
Additionally, a fried chicken diner and takeaway is proposed for a retail unit at the corner of Wellington and Stanley Streets. It will have a few tables for customers.
They plan to have three staff members, with two working full-time. The diner aims to open from noon to 11 PM on weekdays and until 3 AM on weekends.
